The fact is, I need God to help me love God. And if I need His help to love Him, a perfect being, I definitely need His help to love other, fault-filled humans.
To think you can love God without being changed by Him, is to think you can jump into the ocean and not get wet. To really love Him, you must understand that your life is going to be wrecked by Him, and built again into something beautiful, something lasting.
The sign of a beautiful person is that they always see beauty in others.
kytakes asked: Is dating non Christians a bad idea? I'm new to my college and haven't found a Christian community yet and a non Christian asked me on a date but I don't know if I should even go on it if I wouldn't think it would was to marriage?
I’ve mentioned before that dating and marrying an unbeliever is a really bad idea. It’s like planning on carpooling together through life, but discovering a little bit more every day that one person wants to end up on the west coast and the other wants to head east.
My advice is don’t do it. Don’t date without the intent of spouse-hunting. Don’t marry an unbeliever. Be in the world but don’t be influenced by it’s ways. Your decision might totally confuse (and possibly offend) this fellow. But be aware that the Christian worldview is totally different from the way everyone else perceives and interprets things. It’s going to mean you’ll look a little weird to people every now and then.
Anonymous asked: How would you explain who Jesus is to someone who has no idea who he is?
I would say when the world was spoken into existence it was by His power that everything was made. (source)
I would say that 2000 years ago God sent His son into the world to reveal His heart for humanity. The ultimate proof of God’s existence is the incarnation of Himself. (source)
I would say that He was so important that we reset our whole calendar system to point to His birth. He’s undoubtedly the most famous person in human history.
I would say that He is perfect and blameless. And He willingly laid down His deity, to come to serve us. And to give His life as our ransom. Through Him we have an opportunity to set free from the bondage and cycle and death of sin. (source)
I would say that He conquered death by rising from the grave! And that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord! (source)
I would say that He’s so worth meeting. He’s so worth serving. He’s so worth knowing. Giving up your whole life to Him still wouldn’t repay what He offers to us.
